See Rainbow City in Shreveport

Experience the magical outdoor installation of dozens of air-filled sculptures

Hong Kong, New York, Toronto, Miami and now Shreveport—the internationally renowned FriendsWithYou artist collective of Arturo Sandoval III and Samuel L. Borkson have taken Rainbow City across the globe.  Now this whimsical, wonderful, outdoor experience of 35 air-filled sculptures, some soaring 50 feet into the sky, is coming to northwest Louisiana.  Presented by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC), Rainbow City Shreveport will be a place to make new friends during a six-week, fun-filled festival as Shreveport residents celebrate the grand opening of the city's first urban greenspace—The Common Park.

Rainbow City is a vibrant, imaginative, pop-art style city of giant interactive inflatables with weeks of planned programming. It’s a dance party with live music on Friday nights, PJs and pizza on Sunday evenings and a “Turket Trot” Thanksgiving morning. It’s a PACE Rainbow weekend with “That Girl DJ,” a Common Groove weekend with “Tipsey, the Band,” and waffles with Nicholas St. North the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It’s an arts market featuring the work of NWLA creatives and a greenspace in which to get your health on with Walking Wednesdays, Saturday workouts and Sunday yoga.

“We are excited to bring FriendsWithYou and a Rainbow City to the people of Shreveport and their new Common Park," say Borkson and Sandoval. "Our goal is always to share the hope of personal, physical, and community transformation through our art. We plan to activate the entire city to be a part of this experience."

The Common Park is located at 869 Texas Avenue in downtown Shreveport.  It is free and open to the public. Dynamic programming fills the six-week festival—November 2 to December 8--something to entertain young and old.  Visit friendswithyoushreveport.com for a calendar of events and complete details.
