Slidell Antique Street Fair

Oldies and goodies on display October 28 & 29

Tired of having to go all the way inside antique stores to browse yesterday’s treasures? Don’t you wish there was a way you could look through tchotchkes, bric-a-brac, knick-knacks, and good-old fashioned collectibles while enjoying a perfect fall day? Well, fret no more: the Fall Slidell Antique Street Fair is coming. October 28 & 29, in the heart of Olde Towne Slidell, over two hundred vendors from five states gather along First, Second, and Erlanger streets to peddle antique furniture, glass, vintage clothing, jewelry, collectibles, and handmade crafts—and one faithful vendor even brings along his ducks and goats for company.

Now in its 37th year, the fair will also feature live music by Louisiana Music Hall of Famer TiJonne Reyes and Slidell husband-and-wife duo Overboard—either of whom alone would be worth going to the fair. (I’d say “worth the price of admission,” but like all the best things in life, the event is free.) There’s plenty of food to sample and enjoy. Along with local classics like gumbo, jambalaya, and dirty rice, you can also get a pizza from a vendor with a portable pizza oven or enjoy flavorful Italian sausages from a woman who comes from Indiana each year to dole out the meaty treats.

Enjoy this colorful, walkable opportunity to find a wide range of merchandise, eat well, and take an opportunity to explore historic downtown Slidell. If you can’t make it this fall, fear not: the event repeats every spring and autumn, and a smaller sidewalk stroll takes place the third Saturday of every month.
