Taste of Ascension

A restaurant week is one thing—a wonderful thing—but what’s even more exciting is a restaurant two-weeks. Between July 10 and 23, Tour Ascension will present the culinary bonanza Taste of Ascension. For fourteen delicious days, the parish’s best restaurants will offer fixed price menus featuring existing favorites and fresh new dishes. The limited run of the restaurant event means that chefs have the chance to experiment and test-market new or experimental offerings, or just take the chance to serve something special that they’ve been wanting to try. It’s an exciting time to be an enthusiastic eater, as towns and parishes across Louisiana are making independent names for themselves as food destinations in their own rights, and this special exploration of what’s cooking in Ascension Parish is something you won’t want to miss. The more places you try, the more likely you are to be one of the first to find the next hot Louisiana foodie mecca.

The whole process is centralized at the event’s website, which will list the participating restaurants and feature a widget that lets you choose how much you want to spend and whether you’re looking for lunch or dinner, and then—through the magic of the Internet—provides you with a list of recommendations matching your criteria. That may seem like a lot of the work is done for you, but you’ll still have to face the difficult task of choosing from among all the restaurants and picking just one dish to try. (Or two!
