LPO Presents "Tremé for Tremé Cultural and Historical Black Music Series"

Presented by Tremé 4 Tremé, The New Orleans Legacy Project, and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, this inaugural concert series will honor the city's rich legacy of Black music and musicians. Tuesday night's program, curated by Alvin Jackson, is called "La Programme S.T.E.M. de la Louisianne"—and will feature performances of music composed by the Free People of Color who founded La Société Philharmonique in Tremé before the Civil War. Wednesday night's program will feature the premiere of Music of a Movement: A Symphony Anthology (1950s-1970s) by New Orleans composer Deepa Soul & The Love Soul Orchestra with LPO. The musical tribute will include masterpieces composed, written, or made famous by Black people—which went on to have global influence.
