The Mahalia Jackson Theater brings the spirit of South Africa to New Orleans through Africa Umoja! The Spirit of Unity. This musical stage play has been performed in over fifty countries worldwide, showcasing the rich culture, art, and stories of South Africa through exceptional music and choreography and a talented authentic South African cast. From beautifully designed costumes to the music of Hugh Masekela, Ladysmith Black Mazbazo, Miriam Mekeba, and other native legends, to a tribute to the late president Nelson Mandela, the performance is a true work of art any citizen of the world can appreciate.
