African American Read-In

Join the many schools, churches, libraries, bookstores, and organizations who are coming together to celebrate Black History Month through literature with an African American Read-In. Here are the events coming up at Baton Rouge libraries:
February 4: Children ages eight through eleven are invited to read poems by African American writers aloud, then will make an African beaded unity bracelet. Greenwell Springs Road Regional Branch at 3 pm.
February 5: Kids ages five through eleven are invited to read aloud kid-friendly passages of literature by African American writers, and will listen to a short presentation about African American artists before creating their own art. Main Library at Goodwood at 3 pm.
February 27: Kids ages six through eleven will read about George Washington Carver and partake in a famous quote scavenger hunt. Snacks will be served (perhaps peanut butter related?). Carver Branch at 4:30 pm.
