African-American Women in World War I
Eden Park Branch Library 5131 Greenwell Springs Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70806
The Women Veterans of Louisiana will visit the Eden Park Branch to give a talk on the role of African-American women during World War I. These women strengthened and supported both Allied forces and social welfare organizations providing support to the enlisted, despite widespread discrimination. As they supported these soldiers, African-American women also used the war effort to advance their own claims to equal citizenship. Free. 6:30 pm. ebrpl.com.
