"Was it a Dream," self-portrait by Lafayette artist, Amy Guidry
For its summer group show, LeMieux Galleries invited a dozen artists to explore the idea of a “Face to Face”; the concept of "the viewer," or how art and the self are affected by being viewed. The notion stemmed from gallery owners’ Christy Wood's and Jordan Blanton's interest in self-portraiture. Participating artists have taken a wide range of approaches—from traditional portraits of themselves or others, to far more surreal interpretations. Artists who accepted the challenge include Leslie Nichols, Kate Samworth, Shirley Rabe Masinter, Nathan Durfee, D. Lammie-Hanson, Jessica Strahan, Matthew Hance, Alex Podesta, Aron Belka, Benjamin Samback, Matthew Hance, Amy Guidry, David Lambert, Logan Magee, Lizette Toto and Philip Gould. 332 Julia Street.
