An Evening with B.J. Barham
Mid City Ballroom 136 South Acadian Thruway, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70806
Mid City Ballroom excitedly welcomes to the stage the front man of American Aquarius, B.J. Barham to perform his first solo album, Rockingham. The album was born in late 2015 out of the singer's experience of deep empathy and appreciation for the people around him—sparked from the 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris, when he was less than two hours away on tour.
"The onslaught of text messages, voicemails, and everything that came in that next day sparked something in me," Barham describes. "In the next two days, the entire record was written."
The album—unlike his more autobiographical American Aquarium 2015 breakthrough record Wolves—is made up of fictional composites of people he's known since childhood. With simple, human songs that paint a stunning portrait of small-town America, the record feels both intimate and large to listeners from all over the country.
Doors open at 8:30 pm. $15; $20 cash at the door. BYOB. midcityballroom.com.
