"An Imam, a Priest and a Rabbi Walk into a Museum" at the Opelousas Museum
Opelousas Museum & Interpretive Center 315 N. Main St., Opelousas, Louisiana 70570
With spring and all of the religious holidays that it brings approaching, those who are curious about how others celebrate can attend this interfaith program with religious leaders from the three Abrahamic religions that coexist in the Opelousas area. Speakers include Dr. Ghayas Qureshi of the Islamic Center of Lafayette, Father Justin Arockiasamy, S.V.D. of Holy Ghost Church, and Rabbi Sarah Smiley of Unified Jewish Congregation of Baton Rouge. Professor Michael Alleman of LSUE will moderate the discussion, which will be followed by questions and casual conversation. 5 pm–7 pm. Email museum@cityofopelousas.com for more information.
In conjunction with this event, the Opelousas Museum is also hosting a Story Exchange about faith on January 21, from 1 pm–3 pm, with the goal of strengthening community connections between individuals of different faiths.
