On Art Rocks! Friday, February 1 at 8:30 pm and Saturday, February 2 at 5:30 pm, painter Jonathan Mayers discusses his collaboration with actor/musician Clif St. Laurent and poet/writer Beverly Matherne, along with a host of other Louisiana artists, to create the book Mythologies Louisianaises, aimed at preserving Louisiana mythology and the three languages in which it was originally expressed: English, International Louisiana French, and Kouri-Vini or Louisiana Creole.
Next, Behzod Abduraimov, who started studying music as a 5-year-old in Uzbekistan, shares the story of how he ended up in Kansas City, then Missouri, and on to international stardom. Harold Holden's art draws viewers into his celebration of the American West—cowboys, horses, rough 'n tough icons and all. And, finally for this week's Louisiana Treasure, viewers will see what happened when an early 1900s wealthy lumber man was turned away from one of Alexandria's hotels—and how that incident resulted in what is now the Hotel Bentley, an art deco masterpiece.
