Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker: A Tale from the Bayou
On Art Rocks! Friday, December 20 at 8:30PM and Saturday, December 21 at 5:30PM (episode #409), we visit with the co-artistic directors of the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, who tell us about a milestone anniversary for The Nutcracker: A Tale from the Bayou. Plus, The Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker gives young Baton Rouge area dancers the chance to train with guest Russian dancers. Then, travel with us to rural Missouri, speckled with ghost towns, farmland and a host of natural wonders along the Katy Trail, to meet watercolorist Marilynne Bradley. All this and a historic World’s Fair quilt, and a trip to a doll museum in Ohio.
Hosted by James Fox-Smith of Country Roads Magazine, Art Rocks! is LPB’s weekly series that spotlights artists, performance, culture, literature, history and the impact of art in our world. It features Louisiana stories, as well as segments from across the country. Current and past episodes are here: www.lpb.org/artrocks.
