On Friday, June 14 at 8:30 pm and Saturday, June 15 at 5:30 pm on Art Rocks!, (episode #424), it’s all Baton Rouge Blues. Meet two of the biggest nationally recognized musical talents to come out of South Louisiana. First, Grammy-nominated bluesman Kenny Neal tells us why he moved back to his hometown of Baton Rouge and about carrying on the music legacy of his father Raful Neal.
Then, we look back at our visit with Blues Hall-of-Famer Lazy Lester, who passed away in August of 2018. Only a handful of people knew as much as Lazy Lester did about the early days of blues in the Capital City. He told us how being in the right place at the right time launched his blues career. Then, enjoy a jam session with Kenny Neal and Lazy Lester and hear them reminisce about their experiences with the Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, and other musical greats.
