"Geisha," 2018
On Friday at 8:30 pm and Saturday at 5:30 pm on Art Rocks!, (episode #624), meet Baton Rouge artist Demond Matsuo, who is inspired by the artistry of Asian Geishas and their elaborate wardrobes. Influenced by ancient mythology, he is also known for his astounding depictions of adorned stags. We visit with American composer, Michael Torke, to hear how he incorporated jazz into an unforgettable soundscape for ten pianos. Next, head west to Colorado for a stop at the Creede Repertory Theatre, founded over 50 years ago to encourage the economy of what was a fading mining town. Today the theatre company is nationally recognized. All this and more on Art Rocks!
