Baton Rouge Traditions: How We Worship & Diversify
The first in a series of panels on the capital city's folk culture

The Louisiana Office of Cultural Development, in partnership with the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, is hosting a series of panels based on the Louisiana Folklife Program's recent publication, Baton Rouge Traditions.
In the first installment, "How We Worship and Diversify," Dr. Dereck J. Rovaris, Chief Diversity Officer at Louisiana State University, will moderate a panel discussion between Baton Rouge's religious leaders. In addition to the discussion, Sri Santosh Kumar Acharya Samudrala with Datta Temple will give a Hindu worship puja demonstration followed by tabla drumming by Dandina Rao with Ramnik Modha and other bhajan singers. The event closes with a performance of Negro spirituals by Heritage led by Rev. Clarence Jones.
