So how did Andrew Jackson and his hastily-assembled army defeat the British at Chalmette Battlefield on January 8, 1815? Step onto the actual battlefield for yourself this January 8 and 9, when more than 150 re-enactors relive the final major battle of the War of 1812. Living history demonstrations on black powder and other elements of the historic battle will be enacted by Chalmette High’s JROTC program Recognizing Our Roots. 9 am–3:30 pm with a 10 am Wreath-Laying Ceremony on Saturday, 11 am–4 pm Sunday.
