Bayou Teche History Talk
Jeanerette Museum 500 East Main Street, Jeanerette, Louisiana 70544
Historian Shane Bernard visits the Jeanerette Museum for a lecture about the history of Bayou Teche based on his book, Teche: A History of Louisiana's Most Famous Bayou. From its geological formation to its colonial settlements, and from cotton and sugar cultivation to epic floods and the people who still live along its banks, the storied history of Louisiana's legendary waterway is as riveting and rich as the bayou itself. Bernard also pulls from his own experience canoeing down the bayou. A book signing will follow the presentation. Bernard is the historian and curator of McIlhenny Company, maker of Tabasco, and to its sister company, Avery Island Inc. 6 pm; free.
