Bean Madness
Head to head, kidney to kidney—who makes the best red beans and rice in New Orleans?
Capulet 3014 Dauphine Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70117
Louisiana's communal passion for red beans and rice does not mean we all clamor for one specific dish on Monday nights. Whether it's your grandmother, your aunt, your dad, or even you—someone in your life makes the best pot of red beans around. New Orleans' Krewe of Red Beans is capitalizing on the competitive fervor with the Bean Madness Championship. Whittling down from over fifty-seven restaurants, they seek to determine which New Orleanian put forth the very best beans. This weekend's Championship at the Capulet will have the final two going head to head. Who has the best recipe in town? (Besides your grandmother, bless her.)
You'll be the judge from 6 pm–9 pm accompanied by live music, a silent auction, and free beer to help cleanse the palate.
Tickets start at $25 via Eventbrite. Higher levels of support are optional. Sponsored by Camellia Brand Beans and Cajun Country Rice. Proceeds will benefit Anna’s Place, which provides after-school activities and summer camps for kids, and Make Music Nola, a local music education initiative for young musicians in town. redbeansnola.com.
