"Beauty Was Her Business" : The Legacy of Ophelia DeVore Mitchell

Telling a story of remarkable African American history, women's history, and business history, Professor of History at BRCC at Southern University Shala Washington will share the legacy of Ophelia DeVore Mitchell in a presentation at the Main Library. Mitchell's remarkable life brought her to countless historic moments,  including integrating Vogue Modeling School in New York in 1938  at only sixteen years old and leading the path to a new beauty market for African American consumers. 6 pm.
