"Beuys" with Christa-Maria Lerm-Hayes
Shearman Fine Arts Annex 4205 Ryan Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana
One of the most influential German sculptors of the post-World War II era, Joseph Beuys envisioned a world both democratic and peaceful (imagine!). His experiments in social sculpture—which span genres of sculpture, performance, drawing, and installation—captured the heart of art historian Christa-Maria Lerm-Hayes while she was studying at the Universities of Heidelberg, London, Bonn, and Cologne.
Lerm-Hayes will visit the Tritico Theatre at McNeese University for a lecture on her research on the artist, which will be followed by a screening of the 2017 documentary film Beuys. 2 pm. Free. banners.org.
