Manchac Park 190101 Old Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Grab your field guides and boots and join BREC naturalists and local scientists to document the diversity of life at Manchac Park. A full twenty-four hours is devoted to a search of land and water to find and identify as many species as humanly possible. Along with the documentation, participants can attend scheduled hikes and demos, featuring special activities for kids and families to learn through hands-on sampling, live animal encounters, and more. Sampling starts at 12:30 pm for independent surveying on Friday and a night hike starting at 5:30 pm. Saturday will be filled with a bird banding demo, a plant hike, an aquatics hike, an insect, spiders, and kin hike, and a reptiles and amphibian hike. All ages welcome.
