Book Talk: Warren Perrin's "Seeking an Acadian Nation"
Ascension Parish Library- Donaldsonville 500 Mississippi Street, Donaldsonville, Louisiana 70346
This month, Warren Perrin and his wife Mary will discuss their book, Seeking an Acadian Nation: The 1930 Diary of an Evangeline Girl. Based on the diary of Corrinne Broussard, the story follows her and the other 24 "Evangeline Girls" that Senator Dudley J. LeBlanc accompanied on the historic 1930 visit to Grand-Pré as an effort in reunification for the Acadians. History suggests that this group of young women were the first group of Cajuns to make the pilgrimage back to their ancestral lands in Nova Scotia since the Deportation. Book signing to follow. 6 pm. Free. Registration required at (225) 473-8052.
