Downtown Baton Rouge North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802
Twenty-two iron and aluminum figural sculptures will make a home on downtown Baton Rouge's levee this year. In partnership with the LSU School of Art and Glassell Gallery, the 2017 Ebb & Flow Festival (designed to reacquaint the city with the Mississippi River) will present an exhibition of BORDERS, with figures sculpted by Icelandic artist Steinunn Thórarinsdóttir. Originally exhibited outside of New York’s United Nations Headquarters in 2011, BORDERS has since traveled to Dallas, Seattle, Chicago, and Indiana.
The figures, grouped in pairs, are said to "acknowledge a shared nature that attracts and transfixes them.” Catch their debut at Ebb & Flow on April 1–2 and return for more solitary contemplation of Thórarinsdóttir's work until June 2018. artsbr.org.
