BR Pride Fest
Love, laughter and tolerance at the largest family-friendly indoor LGBTQ pride celebration in the South
Raising Cane's River Center 275 River Road South, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802

Staci Brimer
Established to engender a sense of community among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender & queer (LGBTQ) people and their friends, Baton Rouge Pride Fest centers around a Community Resource Fair, "The Rainbow Bazaar," showcasing the Baton Rouge area's non-profits and social-services organizations. BR Pride is the largest family-friendly indoor LGBTQ pride celebration in the South (if not anywhere). The celebration also offers a special area just for kids, including activities with local company Gymfit and a Drag Queen Storytime. This year will also once again highlight marriage equality with a giant blessing of relationships and celebration, as well as actual weddings for interested participants, featuring a variety of local clergy and officiants. There will also be the third annual Artsfest called the "Queerative Market" in partnership with LEUR magazine. Entertainment will be headlined by Grammy Nominee and Voice/American Idol finalist Frenchie Davis along with dance chart topper Pepper Mashay, as well as the group The Austin Baptist Women and Baton Rouge's own Hip Deep. It all takes place at the Raising Cane's River Center's Exhibition Halls, River View Room, and Galleria. Noon–7 pm. Free. brpride.org.
Don't miss the afterparty, Pride+Candy, at the Old Governor's Mansion from 7 pm–11 pm. Visit bontempstix.com for details and tickets.
