Seeing Music: "Buckjumping"

As part of a collaboration between the NOCCA Institute and the New Orleans Film Society, the two organizations will present a new music documentary series titled "Seeing Music," which will celebrate New Orleans' hometown heroes by showcasing films by and about New Orleans musicians. Screenings will be held in Freda Lupin Memorial Hall on the NOCCA campus.
In March, the series presents Lily Keber's Buckjumping, a documentary that tells the story of New Orleans dance culture through six different communities in the city. The film had its world premiere in October 2018 at thew New Orleans Film Festival where it won the Audience Award for Best Louisiana Documentary Feature and Best Cinematography Prize (Louisiana Feature). Keber will be in attendance and will lead a conversation about the film after the screening alongside participants in the documentary. 7 pm. $10; Free to members of the New Orleans Film Society and NOCCA students. noccainstitute.com.
