Held in New Orleans' Warehouse District, flanked by an active railroad, a dilapidated power plant, and barges floating by on the Mississippi, the vibe at Buku Music + Art Project is definitively industrial. But it is also quintessentially New Orleans. One of the stages, called Float Den, is at all other times of the year a Mardi Gras float manufacturing warehouse: Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World. The amalgamation of energies fits perfectly with the festival’s fusion of relevant electronic dance music, hip-hop, and indie rock. It's a dance party with a gritty, urban vibe.
