Camellia Garden Stroll
Hammond Research Station 21549 Old Covington Highway, Hammond, Louisiana 70403
The first blush of spring comes in many colors at LSU AgCenter's Hammond Research Station, which makes today a good time to attend the annual camellia garden stroll. One of forty-one public camellia gardens included on the American Camellia Society’s prestigious Camellia Trail, the gardens feature a collection of over five hundred Camellia japonicas and sasanquas planted from the late 1930s to the early 1950s. For camellia lovers, a February visit is something of a tradition. Free admission. 1 pm at 21549 Old Covington Highway (Louisiana Highway 1067) east of Hammond.
