Carter House Open House

This fall, the Historic Carter House opens its doors and invites guests to enjoy a Sunday afternoon steeped in old-world Southern ambiance. Carter House is the oldest--and only--plantation still standing in Livingston Parish, and its caretakers maintain the elegant house and tree-covered grounds as both an educational slice of yesteryear and classic event space. The Historic Carter House Society will be sponsoring this month's open house, with tours giving highlights of the history of the house and its previous residents as well as a raffle for a "Taste of Louisiana" wine basket. 2 pm–4 pm. $5 for adults; children 12 and under free.
