Northeast Louisiana-based artist Celeste Potgieter's new exhibition at the Schepis traces her life and her growth as an artist with an emphasis on the places that have shaped her. In From Serengeti to the Bayou, she blends images of South Africa, her native home, with Louisiana, her current home. Defying genre, her works combine traditional oil painting with mixed media to create stunning and personally poignant imagery highlighting diverse perspectives and the influence of place. The Schepis Museum will open the exhibition with a reception in conjunction with the Louisiana Art and Folk Festival on October 12, and will display Potgieter's work until November 30. schepismuseum.com.
