In the summer of 2018, plans were laid at the LSU School of Art's Glassell Gallery for a special solo exhibition of works by Baton Rouge fixture Charles Barbier. A few weeks later, on August 2, 2018, the community icon died unexpectedly.
Now, after over a year of planning, the Glassell Gallery will present a comprehensive retrospective honoring the legacy of an artist that has left his marks all over this city. Curated by Jenny Barbier Farr, Dylan Barbier, and Kristin Malia Krolak, the exhibition features a large array of paintings and drawings collected from family and donors across the LSU community, work that represents the course of this artist's life.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, November 2, featuring members from every corner of the community. Local businessman Brian Biamonte will host an after-reception celebration at Radio Bar. The exhibition will be on display from November 2–January 5.
