Christmas on the Cajun Coast

St. Mary Parish’s historic homes will throw open their doors this December to bathe visitors in the cozy lights of Christmas: 

• Enjoy a Victorian Christmas at the Grevemberg House in Franklin with displays of a traditional Victorian tree and seasonal greenery. Open daily except Christmas Eve and Day. $10 per person, $8 for seniors. 10 am to 4 pm daily.

• At Oaklawn Manor, the residence of Louisiana’s former governor and first lady Mike and Alice Foster, rooms will be adorned for Christmas with a different style tree in every room. The décor is on view from December 7 through January 3, 2016. $15 per person; $10 for students. 10 am to 4 pm daily, except Mondays.

• Elaborate Christmas light displays, accompanied by seasonal music, make up the traditional Idlewild Plantation Christmas Lighting driving tour through Kemper Williams Park in Patterson. Admission is $2 per car. 5 pm–9 pm Sunday–Thursday, and 5 pm–10 pm Friday and Saturday.
