Concerts at the Dew Drop Jazz Hall

The historic Dew Drop Jazz & Social Hall, the venerable century-plus-old rural jazz venue and home to the historic Benevolent Association, is one of the Northshore's most precious gems. The historic dancehall was a community gathering place for the area's African American community, and is now considered the world's oldest unaltered rural jazz hall—built the same year that most scholars agree jazz was born in New Orleans. At its height as a music venue, the Dew Drop hosted greats the likes of Buddie Petit, Kid Ory, Bunk Johnson, George Lewis, and many more. Today, thanks to investments by the City of Mandeville, the National Park Service, the New Orleans Jazz Commision, and the George Buck Foundation, the Dew Drop once again hosts regular jazz performances by local and traveling musicians—offering one of the most authentic experiences of the genre.
