Courir de Mardi Gras de L'anse

For the sixth year, the Courir de Mardi Gras de L'anse is running Mermentau Cove, decked out in full traditional regalia. With this year's restrictions on gatherings, the courir won't host their annual gumbo and fais do do, but the organization is working on setting up (safe) spots for the general public to watch along the route. Interested participants must attend one Cadien Toujours meeting to learn the Cajun French prayers and chants to be recited on the run. Meeting dates are January 21 and 28, and February 4, all held at 7 pm. Participants must wear traditional costumes, including masks, which cannot be removed at stops, and must be 15 years old. $30 for early registration; $35 morning-of. cadientoujours.org .
