Cross That River

The next production coming to the Heymann Performing Arts Center as part of Performing Arts Serving Acadiana’s (PASA’s) 2022-2023 season is Cross That River—a musical by jazz musician Allan Harris that tells the story of Blue, who escapes slavery in Louisiana by going to Texas. Cross that River reflects the history of Black cowboys, and that of the formerly enslaved individuals who helped settle the American West, like never before. 7:30 pm. February 1: Black Cowboy Talks—Theodore Foster, PhD and assistant professor of history and African American Studies at Benedictine University in Chicago, will give a Black Cowboy Talk at the Washington Recreational Center in Washington, Louisiana. 5:30 pm. Free.
