Dawn DeDeaux, FREE FALL: Prophecy & Free Will in Milton’s Paradise Lost on Poydras.
Multidisciplinary artist Dawn DeDeaux will be participating in a panel discussion unpacking her Poydras Corridor Sculpture Exhibition titled FREE FALL: Prophecy & Free Will in Milton’s Paradise Lost on Poydras; as well as the first comprehensive museum exhibition of her art, called The Space Between Worlds, which is currently on display at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Put together by both NOMA and The Ogden Museum along with the Helis Foundation, the discussion will be moderated by Bradley Sumrall, Curator of the Collection at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and will also include Katie A. Pfohl, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at NOMA, and curator of The Space Between Worlds. Among other topics, DeDeaux will discuss how her body of work—spanning video, performance, photography, and installation—wrestles between the worlds of the past and the future. Her art is both anticipatory and full of regret, dwelling on the coming consequences of climate change, population growth, and industrial development. 2 pm. Free, but registration is required at ogdenmuseum.org.
