Edgar Rice Burroughs Dum-Dum Conference
to
Teche Theatre for the Performing Arts 501 Main Street, Franklin, Louisiana 70538

Come to the Dum Dum Festival to join Cajun Coast Visitors & Convention Bureau and Edgar Rice Burroughs fans in celebrating the 100th anniversary of the release of Tarzan of the Apes, the first Tarzan film ever made, itself based on Burroughs’ first Tarzan novel, Tarzan of the Apes. (A "dum dum" is a communal celebration held by the ape culture in the novel; we are assured that the cannibal aspects are not due to be replicated this year.) The film was shot around Morgan City, using the lush Louisiana swamps to represent the depths of the African jungle. Look forward to conference activities and movie location tours, along with a King & Queen of the Jungle costume contest and a competition for best yell. Details and schedule at cajuncoast.com.
