Fall/Winter Vegetable Gardening

Yes, you can still buy a sno-ball, but it is time to look ahead to your fall and winter gardens. The Ascension Parish Master Gardeners Association leads educational workshops on the art and craft of gardening, with the first outing coming September 11 at the Galvez branch of the library. Find out which vegetables can stick it out through winter weather and just how to plant them in a lecture by Butch Drewes of Clegg's Nursery. Then, on September 18 at the Dutchtown branch, Dr. Allen Owings speaks on the low-maintenance loveliness of flowering shrubs and roses.
