Fonville Families’ Picnic
Capitol Park Museum 660 North 4th Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802
Join the Friends of the Capitol Park Museum for the Fonville Families’ Picnic in celebration of the exhibition A Colorful World in Black and White: Fonville Winans' Photographs of Louisiana. This event embraces music, food, fun, and a family atmosphere with lawn games, museum access, heavy hors d’oeuvres, brunch and a carving station by Mestizo Catering, and a cash bar for beer, Bloody Mary’s and mimosas and more! Other event activities include crafts for kids, a photo area, face painting, and balloon art. Don't forget to share your story. Were you, your grandmother or mother a “Fonville Bride”? Did Fonville capture your family portraits? Many in our community hold fond memories of their "go-to" wedding and portrait photographer. Be sure to view the exhibition A Colorful World in Black and White: Fonville Winans' Photographs of Louisiana, which includes more than 160 of Winans’ photographs representing the entirety of his career. Starting in the 1930s, Fonville Winans recorded life in south Louisiana and the social life of Baton Rouge's families. The funds raised at this event will benefit the educational mission and public offerings supported by the Friends of the Capitol Park Museum. Get your ticket now at fotcpm.square.site.
