Friends of Hilltop Arboretum Discover Nature Programs
Partnering with the Capital Area Native Plant Society (CANPS) and the Louisiana Master Naturalists of Greater Baton Rouge, the LSU Hilltop Arboretum is offering a series of programs on ways to engage with and experience nature in our communities.

What is a Bioblitz? How do you do it?
Amanda Takacs, of the BREC Conservation Department, presents an introduction to bioblitzing. A bioblitz is a confined period of intensive efforts to catalog plant and animal life in a specific area, usually conducted in a team-setting. Participants get the opportunity to explore their environment while contributing to research and conservation efforts in their community.

Zero Waste Baton Rouge
Zero Waste spokesperson Anne Fugler will be sharing insight into the problems our trash causes to the environment alongside daily changes we can make to help with the solution. She will encourage attendees to intentionally alter daily habits as individuals and as a collective to solve the growing waste problem in our community.

Edible Plant Tea party
Learn about our native plants and how they can add some flavor to your dinner table. Louisiana Master Naturalist and Chef Katherine Gividen, CEC will inform attendees and invite them to participate in discovering edible plants including a series of "weed" teas, black forest ham and purslane finger sandwiches, and blackberries in a Romanoff Sauce with Elderflower Liqueur.
