Paul Raymond Jones, a prominent advocate for Black artists’ recognition, amassed one of the country’s largest private collections of African American art and in 2008 the University of Alabama established a museum in his honor and to continue his legacy. African American Masterworks, an exhibit at the LSU Museum of Art, features sixty paintings, sculptures, photographs, and prints from his collection.
