Geaux Paddle Youth Workshop

Encourage kids to spend this summer on the water, and set them up for success with this workshop hosted by The TECHE Project, designed for ages ten to fourteen. The program will include safety instruction, an experiment on water testing, a paddle to New Iberia City Park, and a found art project with Margaret Simon. Participants will also learn how to be a good steward of the bayou, with instruction on the importance of wood duck boxes and safe nesting sites for local birds, lessons on local flora and fauna—with an emphasis on native species, and guidelines for trash pickup. Kayaks and canoes, as well as life jackets and drinks will be provided. Bring your own lunch in a waterproof container. 8:30 pm–1 pm. $20. techeproject.org.
