Grand Coteau Hawaiian Cruise Dance
Featuring Sir Reggie Durel and the Ils Sont Parti Band & Rockin' Doopsie Jr. and Zydeco Twisters
St. Peter Claver Hall 252 Church Street, Grand Coteau, Louisiana 70541
Grand Coteau gets tropical for their annual Hawaiian Cruise Dance, which pays tribute to three local musical legends: Rockin Doopsie Sr. (1932–1993) who performed all over the world and on Paul Simon's Graceland album; Buckwheat Zydeco (1947–2016), considered an ambassador of Zydeco Music, bringing its sound into the mainstream and world; and the guitarist and band leader Lil Buck Sinegal (1944–2019), known as the "Master of the Stratocaster" and as a longtime member of Clifton Chenier and Buckwheat Zydeco's bands.
Rockin' Doopsie's son and the Zydeco Twisters will rock the house with high energy zydeco sounds, along with Reggie Durel, the son of Buckwheat, who will lead the legendary Ils Sont Parti Band.
All proceeds will go toward renovation of the KPC Hall, formerly known as the St. Peter Claver gym in Grand Coteau. $10 in advance by calling Leona Boxie at (337) 230-9974, P&D Cake Cottage at (337) 662-2253, or in person at 106 st. Joseph St. Grand Coteau. $15 at the door. BYOB.
