Gumbo With Julian Brunt
Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum 115 1st Street, Biloxi, Mississippi 39530
Still trying to figure out how your favorite restaurant—or perhaps more likely, your great grandmother—stirred up that oh-so-precisely perfect pot of gumbo? Join Mississippi Food Writer Julian Brunt at the Maritime Seafood Industry Museum each month to learn the best-kept secrets to the delicate craft that is a seafood gumbo. Brunt will share the ins and outs of how to purchase and cook fresh seafood, and will demonstrate how to brew a from-scratch gumbo using local seafood and Mississippi-grown rice.
The class will be held on the third Wednesday of each month at the museum, with the very first class on February 20 at 10 am, lunch at 11 am. $30 for class, lunch, and a copy of Julian's cookbook; $20 for lunch only—which will also include a copy of the cookbook and a bowl of gumbo, as well as highlights from the class. Contact Corey Christy for tickets at (228) 435-6320 or outreach@maritimemuseum.org. maritimemuseum.org.
