Your weekly happy hour just got happier, with an added dose of storytelling and local lore. For its regular Historical Happy Hour events, the West Baton Rouge Museum hosts a local musicians and storytellers, featuring intellectual discussions, music, panels, speakers, and—of course—drinks, though those are up to you. So pack up your favorite libations, and open your mind to the history of our community.
This month's event will celebrate the closing of two exhibits, From Sugar to Rum and Women of the Blues. Guests will get to engage with a guest speaker offering a presentation on rum, with a tasting from Three Roll Estate, followed by a screening of the film Carol Fran: Tous Les Jours C'est Pas La Meme (Everyday Is Not the Same), which follows the life of the Lafayette Creole musician. Following the screening, director and cultural anthropologist Becky Schexnayder of Coulée Productions will be available for a Q&A. 6 pm–8 pm. Free. westbatonrougemuseum.com.
