THNOC's museum expansion includes a meticulous restoration of the historic Seignouret-Brulatour Building, shown here.
The Historic New Orleans Collection is celebrating the grand opening of its new exhibition center (at 520 Royal Street) New Orleans-style with a full on block party. Visit the new gallery, which will display its first major exhibition, Art of the City: Postmodern to Post-Katrina, and enjoy live music—including performances from local favorite the Tin Men, Latin band Javier Olondo & AsheSon, traditional brass band the Storyville Stompers, the children's band Confetti Park Players, and good old traditional jazz from the Detroit Brooks Trio. The original location at 533 Royal Street will also be open, where visitors can tour the Louisiana History Galleries. Refreshments will be available for purchase at local bars and restaurants, including the new museum coffee shop Café Cour. Free. hnoc.org.
