Iberia Film Festival
Essanee Theater 126 Iberia Street, New Iberia, Louisiana 70560
Seeing as how Hollywood can't get enough of the bayou mystique of Louisiana, it's only fitting that New Iberia hold its own film festival at the historic Essanee Theater. The 2018 Iberia Film festival will spotlight all genres of independent short films, promising "truly independent films from around the globe" as well as local films; filmmakers who wish to have their works screened at the festival have until June 20 to apply for consideration with a late deadline of July 6. The festival opens on July 26 at Clementine on Main (113 East Main Street) with a special screening of Tou' les Jours c'est pas La Meme (Every Day Is Not the Same), a new art exhibit by Paul Schexnayder, and a performance by blues artist Carol Fran, 6:30 pm–9 pm. The festival proper takes place July 28, with films beginning at 1 pm and awards at 9 pm. Visit iberiafilmfestival.com for all the latest details, including admission prices and a full schedule.
