In Pursuit of Equal Justice: Race and Criminal Justice in Louisiana
An online Symposium from The Angola Museum
to
The Angola Museum is inviting a slate of highly-accomplished panelists—from District Attorneys, to retired judges, to state representatives, to formerly incarcerated individuals and nonprofit founders—to speak at a symposium on racial justice and the prison system in Louisiana. The panels will cover the complex and troubled racial history of the Jim Crow era, and how this history continues to have ramifications within the criminal justice system. The effectiveness of recent justice reform initiatives will also be discussed, along with how a more fair system can be established for all citizens, particularly African Americans who have historically arrested at disproportionately high rates. 10:30 am–noon.
