In the Heights at JPAS

Follow the journey of charismatic Washington Heights bodega owner Usnavi as he navigates the experience of being an immigrant running a business in the United States, longing for his original home in the Dominican Republic, and finding love in his Dominican American neighborhood of Upper Manhattan. Written before he embarked on Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda's catchy score carries the story with plenty of upbeat and poignant songs and captivating choreography. For the first time in the Gulf South, JPAS is bringing the musical to life on their stage, with an entirely Latinx cast under the musical direction of Richard Cordova, who is visiting from Manhattan for the production. 7:30 pm Friday and Saturday, 2 pm Sunday. $23–$78 at jpas.org.
