InFringe Fest

New Orleans performers tend to have a flair for the fringe, where they can push the boundaries of their art and challenge the precepts of the mainstream. Lucky for them, the InFringe Fest has sprung up to play host to all manner of offbeat drama, comedy, burlesque, and musical performances, as well as various other acts that refuse to be so easily categorized. There's even a few that cater to the kiddies! This independent theater arts festival (not affiliated with the New Orleans Fringe Festival or related trademarks) celebrates the innovative, the eccentric, the DIY, and the heartfelt, touting the slogan "Art before Commerce!" Shows are held at a variety of venues clustered in the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods and beyond; most are within walking distance from each other or otherwise easily accessible. $7 per show or $40 weekend pass. infringefest.com.
