More than a set of flashing lights and clangs in the corner of an arcade, pinball has a history and science to accompany its addictive gameplay. The Friends of the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum and a group of Texas pinball collectors have joined forces to curate “Pinball – An American Game Experience,” a special exhibition presented in conjunction with the State Fair of Louisiana that will feature pinball machines from the 1930s to the 1990s, memorabilia, and interactive displays that illustrate the mechanics behind pinball. And yes, "interactive displays" means you can get your hands on any of the dozens of pinball machines collected in the exhibit. 9 am–4 pm, Monday–Friday; noon–6 pm Saturday & Sunday. Free. -4 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 12-6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Admission to this exhibit is free. pinballfreeplay.com.
